Ukraine Visa Process — End-to-End Walkthrough
The complete Ukraine visa process for Pakistani citizens from eligibility check through to in-country registration.
A Ukrainian long-stay visa (Type D) is issued by the Ukrainian Embassy in Islamabad after a complete application — employer verification, document apostille, sworn translation, and VFS intake. The visa itself is not the end of the process; it is the entry document that allows you to begin the in-country registration sequence.
The process starts before you leave Pakistan. Eligibility assessment identifies your route (work permit, study, company, or family). Employer or institution verification confirms your counterparty is real. Document apostille at MoFA Islamabad processes your Pakistani documents for Ukrainian legal use. Sworn translation into Ukrainian is completed after apostille.
Once in Ukraine: address registration at the local authority, then TRP application at DMSU. For employment: the work permit must be issued before entry — you cannot arrive without it. For study: the enrolment letter drives the visa; TRP is filed after arrival.
Timeline: 8–16 weeks from first assessment to entry, depending on the route. Work permit cases run longest (SES processing: 30–60 working days). Study cases can be faster if the institution moves quickly.
The process in order
- Eligibility & route. Decide work permit, study, business, or family. The route determines every document that follows.
- Verify the counterparty. Confirm the Ukrainian employer or institution is real and registered before any payment — see employer verification.
- Ground document. Work permit issued by the State Employment Service, or enrolment letter from an accredited institution, or company registration extract.
- Apostille in Pakistan. Degrees (after HEC), experience letters (after FIA/relevant attestation) and the NADRA PCC are apostilled at MoFA Islamabad.
- Sworn Ukrainian translation — completed in Ukraine, after apostille, never before.
- Type D visa application via the VFS Global / Embassy of Ukraine channel: biometrics, fee, and document intake.
- Entry & address registration at the local authority within the visa window.
- TRP application at DMSU — biometric capture, regional submission, 10–15 working days to the card.
