Short answer
A Pakistani citizen files for a Ukrainian temporary residence permit in person at the State Migration Service, after entering on a Type D visa and at least 15 working days before the permitted stay ends. The card is issued within 15 working days; the listed fees are UAH 34, 452 and 654. It lasts as long as its ground.

Can I apply for a Ukrainian residence permit from Pakistan?
The residence permit is filed inside Ukraine, in person, with a passport carrying the Type D visa. From Pakistan you prepare the ground and the visa: the employer’s work permit or the university’s invitation, the embassy decision through VFS, and the apostilled Pakistani documents your ground needs.

Can I get a TRP after entering Ukraine on a visit visa?
For Pakistani citizens the residence permit requires a long-stay Type D visa issued by the Embassy of Ukraine abroad, for the purpose of the stay. A visit (Type C) entry gives no basis for it, so the route starts again from Pakistan with the ground and the right Type D visa.

How long does a Ukrainian TRP take?
File no later than 15 working days before your permitted stay ends; the card is issued within 15 working days of the documents being accepted (Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 322, paras. 5 and 17). The status can be checked on the DMSU e-service 24 hours after you apply.

How much does a Ukrainian residence permit cost?
The State Migration Service lists a government charge of UAH 34, an administrative service fee of UAH 452 and UAH 654 for the blank card. Pay before you file and keep the slip. Notarised translation of the passport and medical insurance are paid separately.

Can a Ukrainian residence permit be extended?
The procedure has no extension: the card is exchanged. File the exchange before it expires, at the latest on its last day, with the ground still valid, such as an extended work permit or continued enrolment. With fewer than 15 working days left, only a DMSU territorial office accepts the file (Resolution No. 322, para. 19).

Do I have to register my address after getting the TRP?
Yes. The file states your place of residence, confirmed by a lease or the owner’s title documents. After the first permit, and after any change of residence, you register at that address; legal guidance from legalaid.ua sets the period at 30 days and warns that a late registration can lead to a fine.

Can my spouse and children join me on a TRP?
Yes. Once your own TRP is issued, your spouse and minor children can apply on family-reunification grounds. Each needs their own apostilled and translated civil-status documents, such as the Nikah Nama and birth certificates, and a Type D visa for entry.

What happens to my TRP if my job in Ukraine ends?
A work-based permit rests on the work permit. When the contract ends, the employer asks for the work permit to be revoked (Law No. 5067-VI, Art. 42-10), and the residence permit ends with it (Resolution No. 322, para. 63). A new ground means a new file.

What happens if I overstay in Ukraine?
Overstaying is an administrative offence punished with a fine (Code of Administrative Offences, Art. 203). The authorities can also order a forced return, which may carry a 3-year entry ban, or by court decision a forced expulsion with a 5-year ban. An overstay is also a ground to refuse a residence permit.

Does a TRP lead to permanent residence in Ukraine?
Permanent residence always takes a separate application: an immigration permit under the Law “On Immigration”, then a 10-year card. Five years of continuous TRP on the work, founder and certain other grounds is one category (Art. 4, part 2, item 11); years on a study TRP sit outside it.
